The vineyard sites

"Schenkenberg"
The traditional vineyard „Schenkenberg“ was terraced by sovereigns in the 13th century. The soil is divided into two parts: The lower part consists of more permeable marl called multicoloured marl. The upper part mainly consists of a type of marl, which is rich of clay and upon which grape varieties like Lemberger, Zweigelt, Spätburgunder, Merlot and Trollinger grow. In between there is a layer of sandstone. We own 50 single plots in this vineyard site.

"Neckarhalde"
The “Neckarhalde” is the smallest single plot in Wuerttemberg (south-western vineyard site). The soil consists of lime- and clay – containing marl, which is planted with the grape varieties Riesling, Spätburgunder and Samtrot.
This plot was cultivated by the sparkling-wine producing winery Kessler until 1997. From 1998 on it was leased by us. |
